Some versions last more than 7 minutes. To the versions that run 7+ minutes -fades in during the recording of a backing track, with John singing- Love is all you need Love looove Love looove- Announcer: This is Steve Race in the Beatles recording studio in London where the latest Beatle-record is at this moment being built up. Not just a single performance, but a whole montauge of performances. With some friends in to help the atmosphere this is quite an occasion. John: - All you need is love All you need is love All you need is love, love Love is all you need All you need is love All you need is love All you need is love, love Love is all you need Love is all you need Love is all you need Love is all you need George Martin: Okay good that'll do kill it. (music stops) All right that was very good, thank you John thats fine. I think that'll do for the vocal backing very nicely. We'll get the positions in now and we'll do the final cut. John: Great. Oh great great. Martin: Okay. Run back the tape please would you? (tape rewinds) Announcer:Thats several days work on that take. For perhaps the 100th time the engineer runs it back to the start for yet another stage in the making of an almost certain hit record. The supervisor is George Martin, the musical brain behind all the Beatles records. There's the orchestra coming into the studio now. And you'll notice that the musicians are not "rock and roll youngsters." The Beatles get along best with symphony men. The boys began by making a basic instrumental track on their own. Then they added on top of that a second track of vocal backgrounds. And they just added a third track. Now comes the final stage. It brings in a solo vocal from John Lennon and, for the first time, the orchestra. Here then is final mixed track take 1 of a song with we offer to the whole world: "All You Need Is Love." John (singing): She loves you yeah, yeah, yeah! She loves you yeah!- Martin: All right, we ready? Okay, lets go for it then. Cans on musicians please....get 'em on. All right here we go then. We'll send the tape. You ready Richard? Richard Lush: Its coming. Martin: Okay Geoff? Geoff Emerick: Yep Martin: All right here we go. Emerick: Okay Richard? Off we go. Martin: Here comes the tape...watch it. John: 1..2..3.. -What follows is a complete version which sounds much like the released version, except there is a longer fade, and an abrupt stop.- Take 58 ˙TVThe Beatles˙ Till There Was YouWillson16 Jun 196402:37recorded live in Melbourne, Festival Hall Concert ˙C640616 MelbourneThe Beatles˙ And I Love HerLennon/McCartney14 Jul 196402:19recorded live for BBC, London, Studio 52 Radio ˙BBC.48.04BBCThe Beatles˙ Can't Buy Me LoveLennon/McCartney20 Jun 196502:14recorded live in Paris, Palais Des Sport Concert ˙C650620b-04ParisThe Beatles˙ I Feel FineLennon/McCartney196402:14Outfake - Top Gear Radio performace 17 Nov 1964 with an audience dub Not - 'recorded at one of the 1964 Christmas Shows at the Hammersmith Odeon (London) between Dec 24/64 and Jan 16/65'as listed. TV ˙TV680904-01 David Frost ShowThe Beatles˙Review #1François Vander Lindenbeatleg@infonie.beMonday, 14 June 1999, 18:35 4In the 80s, the Ultra Rare Trax series were one of the most famous because it gathered in an excellent quality and with reasonably exact liner notes, some of the best material available. Today, this material has been booted numerous times and most of it appears on the Anthology. However, for beginner collectors, this collection might be interesting to trade. Once completed, you'll have a good selection of what is available (concert material and Get Back sessions omitted). CD 8 was released by Genuine Pig. It is known that Swinging Pig had ceased his activities at a time but one is not sure if Genuine Pig is just the reborn Swinging Pig or another company taking the opportunity to release what they have... in much inferior quality IMHO. Highlights on CD 8: * Hey Jude (but the video itself is much more enjoyable)Review #2Chris JohnsonMoptop@altavista.netSunday, 8 September 2002, 09:423Yet another tatty release from The Genuine Pig label (aka World Productions), ALL material is available elsewhere in better quality. ˙
