Finally a what was considered at the time, of release, to be a comprehensive almost complete of these historic recordings, the discs instantly became part of the 'core' collection and many collectors wanted a copy. The recordings remained of low quality but with some improvement on what had previously been available.

The title followed what had become the standard Vigotone pack of Slip case and detailed booklet, as did several other new titles this summer. For some reason however this was not the easiest of titles to find and as the factory pressed CD was phased out by Vigotone an CDR's introduced , things became more difficult.

The CDR reissue had alternate mastering, with disc 2's finally track being substantially truncated, this led to further interest in the factory pressed edition , which continues to date with the reissue currently, 2005, selling for around a quarter of the price.

Core status was partially removed in 2002 when Batz a CDR label brought us the double disc Braun / Kircherrer with a slight improvement of quality and slightly longer tracks , which is some what amusing in that some of the improvisations had historically been artificially lengthened by looping and remained this way until identified in Gottfridsson's excellent book "From Cavern To Star Club" .

A compilation of all these sources along with the editing of the extended tracks to their correct lengths was first produced in the Silent Sea release Home Tapes Vol. 1, which currently holds 'core' status for these important but hard going time capsules.

However with the final track being an OUTFAKE , there is clearly no difference between the two versions for genuine material other than that one is pressed from a glass master. Some sources indicate that this truncation was an error , but I have yet to 'hear' of any versions with out the truncation , so I can only assume that in latter copies it is deliberate , this maybe in that an alternate version was not wanted, I doubt that or could it be the track was reduced because of the looping, not having access to Gottfridsson's book I am unable to speculate , if you are able to help , the usual email address please.
